Faithful in the Ordinary Part 6


A Personal and Congregational Examination

This book has led me to examine not only the church as an institution but also every individual member’s place within it, including mine. Please consider these questions.

Am I contributing to the spiritual health of GCCSB?
Am I listening to God’s Word with a desire to obey it?
Am I praying for our pastors, leaders, missionaries, ministries, and members?
Am I using my gifts to serve, or am I waiting for others to serve me?
Am I helping carry the burdens of people in our church family?
Am I pursuing holiness and receiving correction with humility?
Am I speaking about Christ to people who need the gospel?
Am I measuring faithfulness by God’s standards or by the world’s?

A faithful church is built, under Christ, through faithful believers. Each sermon heard, prayer offered, burden carried, meal shared, truth spoken, gift used, and gospel conversation matters.

Faithful in the Ordinary

The church doesn’t need a new identity. It needs to recover and remain faithful to the identity Christ has already given it.
Our confidence isn’t in novelty, entertainment, marketing, personalities, or human strategy. Our confidence is in Christ, His Word, His Spirit, and His gospel.

My prayer for Grace Community Church South Bay is that we will be an ordinary church in the best and most biblical sense:
A church where Christ is Lord.
A church where Scripture is faithfully taught and obeyed.
A church where believers share life and serve one another.
A church devoted to prayer and true worship.
A church that pursues holiness with humility.
A church committed to membership, discipleship, and accountability.
A church that proclaims the gospel and makes disciples.
A church that values faithfulness more than popularity.

We are ordinary believers, using ordinary biblical means, faithfully serving an extraordinary Lord. Christ will build His church. May He find us faithful.
